> FDA allows use of new health benefit information on olive oil labels: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will now allow olive oil and foods containing olive oil to use labeling which promotes the oil's ability to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. According to the FDA, there is limited, but not conclusive evidence, that suggests that consumers may reduce their risk of heart disease if they consume monounsaturated fat from olive oil and olive oil-containing foods in place of foods high in saturated fat.
