SOURCE: Medical and Dental Income and Expense Averages: 2000 Report
Based on 1999 Data and 1999 Report Based on 1998 Data, National
Association of Healthcare Consultants ((202) 452-8282, www. healthcon.org),
PM Holdings, LLC ((810) 234-8852, www. thepmgroup.com), and
Society of Medical-Dental Management Consultants ((800) 826-2264,
www. smdmc.org), August 2000. FTE = full-time equivalent physicians.
[*] 1998 cardiology figure includes invasive and non-invasive.
Profit figures are means (not medians), rounded off to nearest thousand
dollars; they reflect revenues minus all expenses except physician
compensation (regular income, bonuses and benefits). Data are for
medical groups (non-solo practices) covered in survey. Survey samples
(including solo practitioners) are 2,282 nonsurgical providers, and
2,524 surgical providers, all in single specialty practices.
Year-to-year volatility is caused partly by small sample sizes.
See p. 8 for further explanation of data.
