1999: Just one year after John Force becomes the first to pass the 320-mph mark, Tony Schumacher breaks the 330-mph barrier. Force wins the inaugural Winston Showdown, an NHRA event that features Top Fuel and Funny Car in head-to-head competition.

2000: Tom Compton becomes the third president in NHRA history. Force passes Bob Glidden as the all-time NHRA win leader and wins a record-tying 10th championship.
