The people's choice - The Fans Speak Out - Letter to the Editor

Auto Racing Digest, Oct-Nov, 2002 by Dale Kalitta

It's a shame that the fans, their attendance, and dollar votes don't amount to much in open-wheel racing. CART consistently out draws the IRL by a wide margin in the U.S.--to say nothing of its comparative edge in popularity overseas--yet the manufacturers and other behind-the-scenes types are the ones who determine the future of the series.

That's incredible. I hope CART CEO Christopher Pook can continue to come up with creative solutions to the series problems, because it's obvious that it is the people's choice.
