Bamboozled - The Fans Speak Out - Letter to the Editor

Basketball Digest, May, 2002 by Linda

I picked up the March 2002 BASKETBALL DIGEST because of the cover's screaming yellow caps stating "No Kidding." As an avid New Jersey Nets fan, a headline like that could mean only one thing: Jason Kidd. How disappointed I was to realize the article had nothing to do with Kidd, but with Kevin Garnett.

Another "grabber" could have been used to bring the attention of this month's issue to GarneR. What do you think?

Obviously, we don't want to be confusing readers with our cover headlines, Linda, but our main headline always correlates to the cover photo, which was Garnett. "No Kidding" was a play on Garnett's nickname, "The Kid," and the fact that the Minnesota Timberwolves were surprising the Western Conference with their play.

Hopefully, you didn't feel too cheated with your Kidd expectations, made note of the banner headline at the top oft he cover ("The Surprising Rise of the Nets"), turned to page 50, and enjoyed a six-page feature on your favorite team.
