The little guys - The Fans Speak Out - letters

Basketball Digest, Summer, 2002 by Doran Seff

I really enjoy your magazine and find the articles amazingly in depth. You really go into details on the stars of the pros and college, such as Shaq, Kobe, and Jason Williams, who are really well covered. But the unsung heroes, like Antonio Davis, Bonzi Wells, Ron Artest, and John Linehan aren't well represented. There are players who are talented enough to be considered superstars but tend to be left out of All-Star Games and All-NBA teams because they don't dunk between their legs. Or maybe it's because Antonio McDyess, Shareef Abdur-Rahim, and others have not completed the impossible tasks of making the Denver Nuggets or Atlanta Hawks consistent winners. I and many others would appreciate an ode to the sub-superstars.

We pride ourselves on trumpeting sub-superstars and even average players, Doran. Hopefully you caught our "Unsung Heroes" feature on Aaron McKie, Cuttino Mobley, Malik Rase, and Darrell Armstrong in our January 2002 issue. And Attest gets a little love this issue, making our All-Defensive Team.
