Bowling Digest, Spring, 2004
League season is a marathon, not a sprint. In a typical league you'll hit at least one hot streak--where turkeys are trotting out for you like a Thanksgiving buffet--and one cold spell, a slump that makes you want to retire your bowling ball for good. It's with the long league season in mind that we've developed our Midseason Product Guide, a look at balls and tools that you can use to infuse your game no matter how you're playing. An item on these pages could help stretch your hot streak or stop a sorry spell cold. No matter what the objective, though, we're sure you'll find plenty here to keep your game fueled through summer.

LANE #1
Lane #1 debuts six new balls for spring:
The Uranium Buzzsaw features the new RadioActive cover stock. This material is clean through the front and Atomic on the back end. Lane #1 also has changed the isotope in its patented diamond core, using the densest material allowed by the ABC. The super dense, center heavy, Uranium Buzzsaw diamond core lowers the Rg from 2.53 to 2.45 while raising the differential from .028 to the midrange of .043. Combined with the RadioActive cover stock, this ball glides through the drier fronts while sticking to the lane in the oily middles. The Uranium Buzzsaw is the ball that does it all.
You asked for a yellow gold pearl--now you've got it. The Buzzsaw/C Golden Nugget features the new P.17 Carbide Particle cover stock. Lane #1 has created a smooth rolling pearl particle ball that is golden on the back end. Combined with the patented diamond core and its raised mini-diamond nugget, the Buzzsaw/C Golden Nugget strikes like gold. When searching for strikes, search no longer, because you've just struck gold.
After creating the most powerful reactive ball ever made, Lane #1 kicks it up a notch with the Black Cherry Bomb, combining the powerful, high-flaring Cherry Bomb core with the super-aggressive, solid Carbide Resin cover stock. When your Super Carbide Bomb is hooking too early and your Pearl Cherry Bomb just won't cut through the oil, Lane #1's new Carbide/R Black Cherry Bomb gives you an explosion that's unheard of.
Taking the power of the Super Carbide Bomb core and wrapping it with the new Carbide Resin cover stock, Lane #1 creates the most powerful reactive ball ever made: the Cherry Bomb. When your particle balls are hooking too early and your normal resin ball just won't cut it, Lane #1's new Carbide/R Cherry Bomb gives you back-end explosion never seen before.
The pearl urethane Buzzsaw XXL gives bowlers Xtra, Xtra length when the lanes dry out. The urethane Buzzsaw XXL has the same dynamic patented diamond core as in Lane #1's resin models. So when your resin ball is hooking too much and your plastic ball doesn't hook enough, the Buzzsaw XXL will strike and strike, getting rid of those dry-lane blues.
Lane #1 is proud to introduce the only two-piece plastic ball on the market. The polyester Buzzsaw XXXL gives bowlers Xtra, Xtra, Xtra length when the lanes are bone dry. This plastic Buzzsaw has the same dynamic patented diamond core as the resin models, so when the lanes are dry, dry, dry, the Buzzsaw XXXL will strike, strike, strike.

BRUNSWICK
Brunswick engineers have once again turned up the heat with a high Rg version of the original Inferno: The Blazing Inferno combines the proven performance of the Activator cover stock with a core design that shifts mass from the inner to the outer core for a cover heavy ball. This weight distribution creates a higher Rg ball with a lower Rg differential than the original Inferno. It's capable of providing a better matchup when reduced traction in the heads or midlane is desired. Bowlers with higher RPM rates or slower ball speeds will appreciate the excellent control characteristics. The Blazing Inferno can also be tuned to meet a variety of styles and conditions through drilling layout, polishing, or sanding.
