Columbia 300's Cuda Has a State-of-the-Art Shell - bowling ball - Brief Article - Product Announcement

Bowling Digest, June, 2000

COLUMBIA 300 RECENTLY INTRODUCED the Cuda 2000, the manufacturer's first bowling ball to feature a revolutionary reactive shell that exaggerates the normal reactive ball motion to deliver a faster break point and more flip on the back end. The new shell, called Holo-Flex, contains a newly engineered sparkly additive which creates a unique texture that exaggerates the normal reactive ball motion. This allows bowlers to move inside as the heads break down with a motion that gets down the lane easily and hooks with a strong reaction to the pocket.

"We're excited to be bringing this new technology to the marketplace with the Cuda 2000," says Columbia sales and marketing vice president Roger Vessell. "The Holo-Flex shell delivers more power down the lane than other reactive shells. And its dynamic core equates to a ball that goes long with maximum flip on the back end."

The new ball has a hook rating of 18 with a four- to six-inch flare potential. With its flip block and core-in-a-core technology, the Cuda has a 2.526 radius of gyration with a .040 differential at 16 pounds, 2.527 with a differential of .043 at 15 pounds, and 2.528 with a differential of .041 at 14 pounds. It also has a hardness rating of 75-78. The new ball is plum pearl with pink engraving. Its cover stock is finished with a factory polish.
