Where's the love? - The Fans Speak Out - Letter to the Editor

Bowling Digest, June, 2002 by Jim Goodwin

What were you thinking? I just finished reading your April 2002 issue and your excellent articles about Carolyn Dorin-Ballard, Kelly Kulick, and men's U.S. Open champion Mika Koivuniemi. I also enjoyed an article about Tish Johnson and the piece about Patty Costello, whose seven-title record was tied in 2001 by Dorin-Ballard.

After reading from cover to cover, it hit me: Where was the article about Kim Terrell winning the Women's U.S. Open? The story about Mika was four pages long! I finally found a paltry two-thirds of a page stuck in as a sidebar in the Dorin-Ballard story, and the photo of Kim wasn't even taken at the U.S. Open.

I am very disappointed that the biggest event in PWBA history was treated like an afterthought in your fine publication. Kim Terrell is a great champion and a wonderful person, and she and this event deserve far more than this.

The photo of Kim Terrell that accompanied the article was taken during the practice rounds of the 2001 Women U.S. Open.
