Topic: RSS FeedEdwards Is Moving On Up for Team USA - Jeri Edwards named head coach of Junior Team USA bowling team - Brief Article
Bowling Digest, August, 2001 by Brett Ballantini
LONGTIME BOWLING DIGEST writer Jeri Edwards, a current Team USA assistant coach, has been appointed to the newly created position of head coach of the Junior Team USA. In 2003, Edwards will become head coach of the adult Team USA, upon the retirement of head coach Fred Borden.
"This was one of the easiest policy decisions we have ever been presented," says USA Bowling President Kevin Dornberger. "While it's difficult to think about losing someone like Fred Borden, we were fortunate to have a great coach ready to move in at the right time. Sometimes, you just know things are going to come together the right way, and this is one of those times."
Borden is completely confident in his assistant. "[Edwards] has more than 20 years of experience and has put in a lot of hours for Team USA," Borden says. "She has the knowledge, patience, and communication skills for the job. She is good with people. Combined, these attributes will make Jeri a great coach."
"Working with Team USA is different than anything else," says Edwards, a Team USA assistant coach since 1991. "Just to be a part of the program, no matter what position you are in, is a great experience."
