Jinxed? - The Fans Speak Out - Brief Article - Letter to the Editor

Bowling Digest, August, 2002 by John Jeremiah

After taking a look at the list of recent winners of your Men's Rookie Pro Bowler of the Year Award, I only have one thing to say to 2001-02 winner Tommy "Buckshot" Jones: Good luck! Of the eight bowlers who won before Jones, only one of them, 1998 winner Chris Barnes, has had much success in the PBA.

The others-Mark Scroggins (1993), Tony Ament (1994), Billy Myers Jr. (1995), C.K. Moore (1996), Anthony Lombardo (1997), Paul Fleming (1999), and Joe Ciccone (2000)--inspire the question "who?" rather than read like a list of the "Who's Who" of the PBA. Of these recent winners, through the 2001-02 season only Barnes had won a PBA title and most of the rest aren't even on the tour full time. Could there be such a thing as a BOWLING DIGEST Rookie of the Year Award jinx?
