Practice makes perfect - The Fans Speak Out - Letter to the Editor

Bowling Digest, August, 2003 by Pete Tedesco

I bowl with a group of guys at least three to four times a week. We play our little games for bragging rights. We usually try to see who's better: the righties or the lefties.

We all basically throw the same way, and some guys don't know how to move to the left or right to correct their shots. We watch out for one another, try to give each other advice in order to improve our games, and there is a gentleman on the Senior tour who has helped out a lot of the guys.

Despite all of that, I've discovered that there is one thing that anyone can do to improve his or her game: gain command of your follow through. If you consistently follow through every shot with speed and balance, you'll succeed. No matter what the conditions are, the most important thing is to be consistent in your shot-making.

I also find that the best way to fix flaws is to watch an instructional video. I also do that with my golf game, and it works very well. But the best advice of all is still practice, practice, practice.
