Snow becomes the first top qualifier to win a Senior title: PBA Senior: Epicenter Classic - PRO Tour Results

Bowling Digest, Oct, 2003

For the second consecutive week, the PBA Senior tour crowned a new champion. This time it was Lee Snow, who defeated Henry Gonzalez, 2-0, in the final of the Epicenter Classic. Snow pocketed $8,000 for the win.

"This is what bowling professionally is all about," Snow said. "I've won regionals and other titles before, but this is by far my most satisfying victory. To beat the best, that's what counts."

Snow, who qualified as the No. 1 seed, became the first bowler to win a Senior title as the top qualifier. In match play, Snow had to get by Gonzalez, a two-time PBA tour champion searching for his first Senior title; Teata Semiz, a PBA Hall of Famer; and John Handegard, the winningest Senior player of all time.

In the final, Gonzalez could have struck out in the final game to force Snow to mark for the win. But the 52-year-old left the 5-7 split in the 10th frame and Snow claimed the deciding game, 234-224. He won the first game, 228-202.
