Falcons rising?

Football Digest, Sept, 2004 by Jeff Jansen

Watch out for the Atlanta Falcons in 2004. Nobody is saying much about them because they were so bad last year, but I think they could be one of the season's real surprises. First of all, Michael Vick is healthy, so the whole offense will look different. Wide receiver Peerless Price will put up huge numbers and running backs TJ. Duckett and Warrick Dunn will have an easier time running the ball.

And second of all, the defense will be vastly improved. That's one of the reasons Jim Mora Jr. was hired as the head coach after Dan Reeves was fired. As the former defensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers, Mora knows all about defense.

Like I said, everyone is talking about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Carolina Panthers in the NFC South. But when the season ends, neither of those teams will be the champion. It will be the Falcons.
