I still haven't forgotten, Eugene

Football Digest, Jan, 2004 by Andy Jennings

In response to the "heartwarming" story of Eugene Robinson's "Game I'll Never Forget" [November 2003], I'd like to let Eugene know about the game I'll never forget: Super Bowl 33. You'll never forget that one either, will you, Eugene? This was the game in which your decision to leave y6ur wife and kids asleep in a hotel room and go shopping around for prostitutes on the streets of Miami during the wee hours of the night before the Super Bowl cost my Falcons a legitimate chance at a championship.

It was an incredible distraction for the team throughout the entire day of the game. To make matters worse, ma obviously exhausted Robinson was burned by Denver Broncos wide receiver Rod Smith on the game-deciding touchdown, and the $750 I spent on my Super Bowl ticket went up in smoke, as well.

By the way, the fans never got an explanation for this stunt. Eugene ducked his head in the sand and cowered away from reporters until the media forgot about it and moved onto another story. The media may have forgotten about it, but guess what, Eugene? I'll never forget.
