Every year it seems that HOCKEY DIGEST declares the San Jose Sharks will enjoy a breakthrough season and become Stanley Cup contenders. Yet in their franchise history, the Sharks have won a grand total of two playoff series. What is your fascination with this upstart Bay Area hockey team? Each year the Sharks get a little closer to proving you right, but when I turn on the Stanley Cup Finals in June, they're nowhere to be found.

With the Detroit Red Wings, Colorado Avalanche, St. Louis Blues, and Dallas Stars all still in the Western Conference-title reckoning, I can only assume the Sharks will be left out again this year.
