Ullman's memories - The Fans Speak Out

Hockey Digest,  Feb, 2003  by James B. Hoffski

As a long-time, loyal fan of the Detroit Red Wings, I enormously enjoyed "The Game I'll Never Forget" by Norm Ullman in your January 2003 issue. It brought back fond memories of his steady, if not spectacular, play. I do wish to point out however that Ullman's play was superior to his memory. While it is true, as he stated, that he led the league in goals in 1964-65, he was the runner-up, not the winner, in the balloting for the Hart Trophy that season. The winner was Bobby Hull who captured the award mainly because there were three leading candidates from the regular-season champion Detroit Red Wings--Ullman, Gordie Howe, and Roger Cozier--splitting the vote.

My son and I get considerable enjoyment from your publication and look forward to each issue.
