Under the radar - The Fans Speak Out

Hockey Digest, March, 2002

I have to congratulate you guys for naming Patrik Elias of the New Jersey Devils as one of the NHL's most underrated players ["No Respect," January]. Being a Devils fan myself, I think Elias really deserved this honor. Just ask coach Larry Robinson or his linemates how important he is to the team's success.

I don't really know why you put Kenny Jonsson on your list of the most underrated players. He's hurt all the time and when he is playing, it's never at 100%.

I was disappointed to see Daniel McGillis left off your list of underrated players. McGillis is one of the best defenseman in the NHL. He was one of the leading hitters in the league last year, but people fail to recognize his all-around playing abilities. McGillis is to the Flyers what Chris Pronger is to the Blues. I just wish he would get more recognition for his play.

How about Mike Gartner as one of the most underrated players in NHL history?
