Booing Lindros - The Fans Speak Out - reasons Eric Lindros despised by fans - Brief Article

Hockey Digest, April, 2003 by Linda Gardiner

I was just watching the New York Rangers play the Montreal Canadiens, and every time Eric Lindros touched the puck, the fans at the Belle booed him. Why is that? I don't remember him being on Montreal during his career. Am I mistaken?

Linda, Lindros never played for Montreal, but we're guessing the fans we're booing him because he is generally loathed around the league. Also, remember Lindros refused to play for the Quebec Nordiques, the team that drafted him, forcing a trade to the Philadelphia Flyers. There's probably some lingering resentment in the province over that slight.
