The cost of success - The Fans Speak Out - Letter to the Editor

Soccer Digest, March, 2003 by Joe Daudish

Lamar Hunt claims that the U.S. needs soccer-specific stadiums in order to succeed ["The First Father," January 2003]. I am a fan of MLS, but I must respectfully disagree with the proposition of using public funds for this very limited purpose. The country already has multiuse stadiums sprouting up all over the place, and we really don't need even more expensive structures sitting completely idle for the majority of the year.

On the other hand, if Hunt or any other person is willing to spend his own individual funds for this noble purpose, I'm all for that!
