WWF Rankings - World Wrestling Federation - Brief Article

Wrestling Digest, August, 2000

1. Triple H

Triple H held onto his title at Wrestlemania by defeating the Big Show, Mick Foley, and the Rock. How over would he be if he didn't have the WWF title? Either way, there is no doubting his ability to raise his "game" to the next level at pay-per-views.

2. The Rock

The turn of events at Wrestlemania showed that the WWF does not believe the Rock needs a belt to get over with the fans. Vince McMahon's turn against the Rock in the latter stages of the championship match set up a potentially interesting feud between the two.

3. Chris Benoit

It didn't take long for this former WCW champion to make some noise in the WWF. As the new Intercontinental champion, he immediately begins feuding with former champions Kurt Angle and Chris Jericho.

4. Kurt Angle

Although Angle lost both the Intercontinental and European belts to Benoit and Jericho, respectively, he was never actually pinned, thus setting up a potentially major storyline between the trio. Angle continued to receive a huge "pop" from the crowd with or without a title.

5. Chris Jericho

Jericho losing the European title to Eddy Guerrero on "RAW" on April 3 was a travesty. One must wonder what Jericho did in the eyes of the WWF to be left without a meaningful title the day after Wrestlemania.

6. Crash Holly

Crash Holly recaptured the hardcore title from his "cousin" Hardcore Holly on "RAW" on April 3. The idea to defend the belt 24 hours a day has added some humor and interest to an otherwise dull belt.

7. The Big Show

The Big Show's quick exit from the championship match raised some questions about the WWF's plans for him. Wrestlemania could have been the last main event we see him in for quite some time.

8. Rikishi

Rikishi's pairing with Kane was an odd, yet somehow functional partnership. The WWF has started to slowly separate Too Cool and Rikishi, giving Rikishi a bigger push in other tag-team pairings and as a singles wrestler.

9. Kane

The Big Red Machine finally caught up to X-Pac and Tori at Wrestlemania, leaving "broken" bodies in his wake. With Kane's popularity, another title run may not be out of the question.

10. Chyna

Chyna's heel turn on "RAW" on April 3 was unexpected. The "Latino heat" she experienced from Eddy Guerrero at "RAW" must have made her delusional.
