Women's rights - The Fans Speak Out - Letter to the Editor

Wrestling Digest, Oct, 2002 by Robert Tribuzio, Jr.

I think it's only fair that if WRESTLING DIGEST publishes a list of the top 50 wrestlers of the past five decades [April], which consisted of all male wrestlers, then it should also publish a list of the top 50 female wrestlers of all time.

After all, female wrestlers have contributed a great deal to wrestling.

The Fabulous Moolah reigned as champion longer than any male wrestler in history. Wendi Richter was a credit to her profession and had huge marquee drawing power in the '80s. Velvet McIntyre took on all comers, good and bad, big, strong, and fast. What's more, she wrestled barefoot at a time when females threw each other around the ring much harder than the divas of today.

In all respect, Jackie deserves to make the list. Ivory also deserves a spot. She may be the best female wrestler today. She has a big mouth, but she really backs up everything she says.

Robert, thanks for the great story idea. Look for an article on the greatest female wrestlers in an upcoming issue.
