RCI inks Galveston deal - Cruise News - Brief Article

Cruise Travel, July-August, 2002

Royal Caribbean International has signed a five-year agreement with the Port of Galveston to sail from the Texas seaport. RCI's Rhapsody of the Seas has returned to Galveston, where she will be based for the extended future, to sail Caribbean cruises from the Lone Star State.

The Rhapsody of the Seas was the first RCI ship to sail regularly from Galveston, between October and December 2001. Those sailings were so successful that the line and the port pursued the five-year agreement, enabling the ship's return for ongoing sailings. She will depart on Sundays for seven-night Western Caribbean sailings, with port calls in Key West, Florida; George Town, Grand Cayman; and Cozumel, Mexico. The Key West calls include late-night departures that allow guests extra time to enjoy the island's fabled nightlife. Fares start as low as $599 per-person/double-occupancy.
