Carnival retools newbuild sked - Cruise News

Cruise Travel, July-August, 2003

Carnival Corporation has revised its new-building program with Italian shipyard Fincantieri. Newly announced is an order for the construction of a 116,000-gross-register-ton ship for its Princess Cruises brand, a $500-million sister to the Caribbean Princess, set for delivery in May 2006.

Additionally, the corporation has reduced the number of Vista Class ships ordered for its Holland America Line brand from five to four. HAL's Vista Class now includes the new Zuiderdam (see "New Ship Review," page 16) plus three more scheduled to enter service through early 2006.

Carnival Corp. has also stretched out the delivery of three other new ships now being constructed by Fincantieri. Carnival Cruise Lines' Carnival Valor 2004 delivery has been adjusted from September to December; Cunard Line's Queen Victoria 2005 delivery has been adjusted from January to March; and HAL's fourth Vista vessel delivery has been adjusted from October 2005 to January 2006.
