Cruise Travel, July-August, 2005
Glacier Bay Cruiseline recently announced a new itinerary for its Columbia River cruises. Beginning this fall, the new itinerary will feature an eight-day/seven-night journey beginning in Vancouver, WA, and ending in Richland, WA. A separate voyage of the same length departs Richland and cruises downriver to Portland, OR. The new fall schedule runs from September 10 to October 22.
The new itinerary, with a greater focus on the historic Lewis & Clark Expedition, is a blend of adventure cruising that includes kayaking, bird-watching, hiking, and wine-tasting at a local winery. Historic port visits such as Astoria and Fort Clatsop in the Lewis & Clark National Park in Oregon have been added. The cruise-tour features onboard naturalists and guest speakers discussing Lewis & Clark's journey, plus the natural history, geology, and culture of the region.
