Cruise Travel, Sept-Oct, 2002
We and our friends were aboard Regal Cruises' Regal Empress on a spring cruise to Panama and Central America. One of our friends suffered a serious heart attack during the night. She was "touch and go" throughout the night and the next day. We were miles from shore, and we wondered just how treatment and care would be aboard ship.
We can only express our utmost praise and kudos to Dr. Romeo and his medical staff. They did a tremendous job of caring for our friend who was gravely ill. Her care onboard was superb.
Meanwhile her husband was so upset and concerned that we wondered how he would make it through the situation. The nurse contacted the pastor onboard. We were fortunate to have Rev. A. W. Pankratz aboard as the cruise chaplain. He was in contact with us throughout the whole ordeal. His prayers and words of comfort were most helpful. He also assured us that our friend would be transferred to an excellent hospital in Cozumel.
This all ended up being a rewarding experience both physically and spiritually. We would like to assure any future passengers on the Regal Empress that they are "in good hands"!
