NCL lauded for compassionate call - Letters

Cruise Travel, Sept-Oct, 2003 by Connie Martel

Last week we sailed on Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Dawn out of New York. The ship was delayed eight hours coming into port, because we made an unexpected stop in Florida to drop off a critically ill four-year-old girl. The girl did survive thanks to the decision made by the captain and staff of the ship.

The delay did cause problems for many people, but a child's life was at stake--the right decision was made. Some people were upset at the delay; however, the cruise line did all they could to comfort everyone. Unfortunately, you cannot please all--those people need to "chill out."

We actually benefited. We got to tour New York City and cruise past the Statue of Liberty at night--what a touching moment. This was our seventh cruise, and it was by far the best. Keep up the good work, Norwegian Cruise Line!
