Aloha spirit starts early - Letters

Cruise Travel, Sept-Oct, 2003 by Joanne Eckhoff

My husband and I just returned from a nine-day cruise to Hawaii onboard Celebrity Cruises' Infinity. We thought the first four days at sea would be boring, but with all the activities we were really kept busy. Haunani, a Hawaiian teacher (or kumu) onboard, taught us the hula, the language, and lei-making. She also explained her ancestry, telling us she was related to Kamehameha I, the great king of Hawaii. She went out of her way to educate us. By the time we arrived in Hawaii, we felt we knew everything about the islands. She made certificates for everyone on the ship with our names and what they are in Hawaiian. Also, one passenger missed the let-making, and Haunani actually made a cabin-call to give a personal lesson!

I really recommend this cruise, as it is not only relaxing but also educational.
