Cruise Travel, Sept-Oct, 2003
The MV Regal Empress sailed June 24 on her maiden voyage under the flag of new owners, Imperial Majesty Cruise Line. Following a successful Coast Guard inspection, the 21,909-gross-register-ton classic ship departed Port Everglades on a two-nigh cruise to Nassau, a schedule she will follow every other day year-round.
The 1,190-passenger vessel replaces the 1,021-passenger SS OceanBreeze, which had been sailing between Florida and Nassau since acquired by Imperial Majesty in 2000. The future of the OceanBreeze has not yet been determined. Imperial Majesty purchased the Regal Empress at an auction in May for $1.75 million. The line operates South Florida's only two-night cruise to the Bahamas.
