Patriot Set To Sail - cruise ship around Hawaii to start in Dec 2000 - Brief Article

Cruise Travel, Nov, 2000

Paradise opens its gates on December 9 when United States Lines' first ship, the Patriot, launches cruise vacations to four Hawaiian islands and five Hawaiian ports on a seven-night itinerary. Departing every Saturday evening from Honolulu (on the island of Oahu), the ship visits Nawiliwili (Kauai), Kahului (Maui), and Hilo and Kona (on the "Big Island" of Hawaii) before returning to Honolulu Saturday morning.

The 1,212-passenger Patriot (formerly Holland America Line's Nieuw Amsterdam) will be the largest ship to date dedicated to cruising exclusively in Hawaii. Fares for the 15 stateroom and suite categories vary, starting at $1,599 per person/double occupancy in value season. United States Lines also offers attractively priced air/sea vacations that include roundtrip air transportation to Honolulu from 70 gateway cities in the continental United States.
