No disrespect intended - Letters

Cruise Travel, Nov-Dec, 2002 by R.H. Lison

Re: Letter from Larry Lilly in the August 2002 Cruise Travel.

Dear Mr. Lilly and others of the same socio-economic society,

First off, please let me apologize for the discomfort and embarrassment I have caused the passengers I have previously traveled with. My wife and myself have cruised as often as we can (14 cruises) in the last 20 years. We work hard in the service industry, and are of service to other people. We cruise because we enjoy travel and meeting other people; we do not own tuxedos or fancy ball gowns.

I have been very uncomfortable on quite a few cruises because of my wardrobe (vintage suits and dresses). Never had I the slightest inkling that I was being discourteous and disrespectful to the other passengers. As I said, being in the service industry, I would never intentionally disrespect or in any way offend other passengers.

My wife and myself had a cruise booked this coming September, but have since canceled. I repeat myself saying I apologize for any previous errors I have made in dress or demeanor on our previous cruises.

As you can tell I am not a very well educated person, so you may have your laugh at my expense, but rest assured Mr. Lilly, I will never be on a cruise ship to upset or disrespect you.

Mr. & Mrs. R. H. Lison, Freeport, FL
