Cruise Travel, Nov-Dec, 2002 by William Suter
The Amsterdam Ship of the Month in the October 2002 Cruise Travel omits something of importance to most of us: Are the dining rooms and show room smoke free? It's my recollection that Holland America's main dining room always includes a smoking section--the main reason we have never booked a cruise on the line.
As a sidebar, the Crown Odyssey is still one of our favorite ships; after that the two Crystal ships. We sailed on the Crown a number of times when she was the flagship of the old Royal Cruise Line, and again since owned by Orient Lines. One of the Crown's "firsts" is a show-room stage that is at floor level for pre-show dancing, and then hydraulically elevated for the show, offering better sightlines for the audience.

The Amsterdam is smoke-free in dining rooms and show lounge. Hope you enjoy the Crown Odyssey Ship of the Month in this issue. And stay tuned for the Crystal Harmony Ship of the Month in the April 2003 edition.
