Celebrate the joys of cruising - Letters

Cruise Travel, Nov-Dec, 2003 by Andrew Corbin

My personal opinion on Cruise Travel magazine is that it is very enjoyable overall. The thing I see that could be slightly improved is that the writers seem to he too critical sometimes, rather than documenting the sheer enjoyment of the moment.

For instance, in August 2003 issue's Cruise of the Month, your writer briefly wrote about Stingray City in Grand Cayman like it was just another shore excursion. Having only been on one cruise and having visited Stingray City, I found that to be one of the most amazing things I've ever participated in.

My thought is maybe you could add a new perspective from someone that can relate to the "Everyday Joe," someone that hasn't sailed on every ship and taken every excursion, someone that hasn't been numbed to the point where they consider ordinary what would make the "Everyday Joe" talk about for the rest of his life. There is a reason why a first-time cruiser is hooked after one experience. Give the country boy, blue-collar worker, farmer in Tennessee a voice he can relate to. Just one voice in the vast blue sea.
