Cruise Travel, Jan-Feb, 2002 by Marvin Jensen
The Port of the Month on San Francisco (Cruise Travel, October 2001), was very well done, but there is one minor correction I would like to point out.
For several years now the Liberty Ship Jeremiah O'Brien actually spends most of the year at Pier 45 adjacent to Fisherman's Wharf (not pier 32). She is tied up behind the World War II submarine Pampanito. This has proved to be very successful for both historic ships and has increased the visitor level to both. The historic streetcars now run the entire length of Market Street to Fisherman's Wharf with a stop directly in front of the cruise terminal, Pier 35. This has proved to be very helpful for passengers spending a day in San Francisco, as they can take either the streetcar or cable car to the downtown area and return by the other.
