Cruise dining in decline - Letters

Cruise Travel, Jan-Feb, 2003 by Charles Van Alstine

We have only been cruising for about 10 years, so we are used to being "nickled and dimed"--well, maybe more recently. However, I take exception to the implication that the new "pay-extra" dining provides better food and a better dining experience than previously. The cruise lines have made it seem that way by cutting service as well as the quality, quantity, and variety of food in their main dining rooms.
