Saying from an old salt

Cruise Travel, Jan-Feb, 2005 by Jeff Jeffress

This is an appreciation for the Cruise Views "Why Travel?" by Marty Leshner in the October 2004 Cruise Travel. As an old (91 years) traveler, I liked the reflections on the joys of--and reasons for--traveling. It brought to mind a one-sentence statement on a card put on our pillow by the steward on a long-ago cruise. Both the ship and the author are forgotten and must remain anonymous, but the saying is still vivid. It read: "The world is a book and he who has not traveled has read only the first page."
