New Glacier Bay routes - Cruise News - West Coast cruises - Brief Article

Cruise Travel, March-April, 2003

Glacier Bay Cruiseline recently unveiled a new itinerary featuring Washington State's San Juan Islands. Beginning May 1, the line will set sail on a series of 13 five-night adventures departing from Bellingham, Washington.

The itinerary cruises roundtrip from Bellingham aboard the Wilderness Explorer, a 32-passenger vessel. Sailing with a fleet of stable sea kayaks allows even first-timers to participate in this world-class sea-kayaking destination. The cruise features back-country exploration on Cypress, Stuart, and Sucia islands, plus transportation from Seattle on Amtrak's famed Cascade rail route and a pre-hotel night in the heart of Seattle's vibrant waterfront district. Aside from kayaking, adventure activities include guided hiking and onshore exploration via excursion landing craft. Prices--including hotel overnight in Seattle, port taxes, roundtrip sightseeing transportation, kayak lessons and gear--begin at $1,095 per person.
