HAL's Great Land golf tourney

Cruise Travel, March-April, 2005

Golfers will go for Holland America Line's new tournament option, the Great Land Golf Classic. Offered on 23 Alaska departures of HAL's 14-day "Great Land CruiseTour #5" this year, the dynamic combination of golfing, cruising the Inside Passage, and exploring the wonders of Alaska and the Yukon Territory offers a truly unique experience. The ultimate golf tournament winners--the overall low-gross scorer and the low-net scorer--will be awarded a complimentary Caribbean cruise for two.

The 23 departures begin with a June 4 sailing and end with an August 20 voyage. Guests who purchase the golf option ($150) are automatically entered into the 27-hole Great Land Golf Classic. Nine holes will be played at lovely Meadow Lake Golf & Country Club in Whitehorse. The next nine holes will be played at Canada's most northern golf course, Top of the World Golf Course in Dawson City. The final nine holes will be played at Black Diamond Golf Course in Denali--a challenging course with Alaskan hazards such as tundra marsh and the occasional moose hoof-print.
