Windjammer Barefoot Cruises recently announced a new itinerary to the South Pacific. Beginning September 26, the company's freighter/passenger vessel, MV Amazing Grace, will begin offering 13-day voyages among the fabled Society Islands.
Sailing roundtrip from her homeport of Tahiti, the ship will visit Bora Bora, Huahine, Rangiroa, Fakarava, Makatca, and Moorea--islands made famous by the French painter Paul Gauguin. These volcanically formed islands, lush with tropical foliage and wildlife, possess a startling and inspirational beauty. Crystal-clear waters provide excel lent snorkeling opportunities, and broad beaches invite the most demanding surf-combers. Warm South Pacific currents maintain a perfect ambiance year round. Prices for the complete journey begin at $1,975.
The Amazing Grace was built as the Pharos and served the lighthouses of the Scottish coast from the 1950s until her purchase by Windjammer in 1987. She boasts a lengthy and proud nautical heritage and even served as a holiday vessel for the British Royal Family.
