Haywood County, "Gateway to the Smoky Mountains, "tracks its fall calendar with special events celebrating mountain culture. Highlights include the Maggie Valley Arts and Crafts Festival (Oct. 18-19), America's Clogging Hall of Fame Competition (Oct. 25-26) in Maggie Valley, and Haywood County Apple Harvest Festival (Oct.18) in the arts community of Waynesville.
Maggie Valley's new Wheels Through Time Museum, with more titan 250 antique cars and motorcycles, is a big hit with auto buffs and lies just off the Blue Ridge Parkway.
