Sonoma County - RV Update: places, products, clubs & activities you can enjoy in your RV - Brief Article

Travel America,  Sept-Oct, 2003  by Nancy Baren Miller

A trip to Northern California's Sonoma County, known for its wine industry and creative cuisine, will uncover fascinating historic sites. At Luther Burbank's Home and Gardens in Santa Rosa, docents lead visitors through his cottage and greenhouse after they explore theme gardens interpreting the naturalist's work.

Jack London State Historic Site in Glen Ellen houses the ruins of the author's dream house, his grave site, a small museum in his widow's home, and Beauty Ranch, where he lived between 1905 and 1916. Sonoma Mission in downtown Sonoma was the last and northernmost of the California missions. On the next block, learn about California's Bear Flag Revolt at the Sonoma Barracks. Hungarian aristocrat Agoston Haraszthy purchased a ranch at what is now Bartholomew Park Winery. Discover more about this "Father of the California Wine Industry" as you taste wines in the 1857 press room he owned. Check out these sites at www.sonomacounty.com. Or call (800) 380-5392.
