Carolina coast - Sanctuary at Kiawah Island - Brief Article
Travel America, Sept-Oct, 2003
The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island is rising on a beautiful 10-mile stretch of uninterrupted beachfront outside of Charleston, South Carolina. Scheduled for a March opening, the new hotel will incorporate the historical flair of Charleston, combining stone, stucco, wood, slate, ironwork, and brick. Interior elements will reflect gracious Southern design with subtle touches of the "Lowcountry lifestyle" such as woven sea grass panels and Southern tapestries adorning the lobby walls.
The Sanctuary will have a 110-seat fine dining room with a private wine cellar room and spectacular ocean views, plus a 160-seat casually elegant restaurant with outdoor terrace. A nature-based spa with 12 treatment rooms will offer signature treatments as well as an indoor pool, beauty salon, fitness center, and two infinity pools overlooking the ocean.
Standard nightly rates will range seasonally from $270 to $625. Suites begin at $800 and range up to $4,500 per night.
