Southwest Florida

Hotel Escalante, a 65-room Mediterranean-style hideaway, opened last fall in Florida's exclusive Old Naples, a beachfront neighborhood of couture shopping, haute-bistro dining, oceanfront mansions, and quaint cottages. The retreat exudes romance with ivy-covered walls, wrought iron gates, and tropical gardens. A doorknob "beach service menu" asks what time guests would like their chairs set on the beach and whether they would like an umbrella, picnic lunch, or cooler with drinks.

A hearty continental breakfast, afternoon refreshments, and in-room coffee, tea, and soft drinks are also included. Downstairs, a cozy independent bookstore and cafe invite browsing and lingering.

Wedding in Paradise

"Awaialulu Ke Aloha" (love made fast by tying together) is the newest wedding package offered at Hawaii's Hyatt Regency Kauai Resort & Spa. A wedding specialist oversees three days in paradise that include: limousine airport transfer with wine and gourmet delicacies, a two-bedroom ocean suite, a convertible rental car, Couples Instructional Massage, and two-hour sailboat ride with six guests. The wedding day begins with spa treatments for the bride and three guests and golf for the groom and three guests; the open-air ceremony, accompanied by songs of the islands, is captured by a photographer and videographer. The $40,000 package includes a three-day stay for up to eight people.
