Travel America, Jan-Feb, 2002
Many of the food industry companies no longer offer tours. Eli's, known nationally for its cheesecake, is an exception. The Chicago Company, recently awarded "No. 1 Dessert" in Citysearch.com's Best of Chicago Contest, welcomes walk-in visits at noon Monday through Friday for a behind-the-scenes peek.
Visitors watch Eli's bakers at work, then enjoy cheesecake sampling. Cost is $3 for adults and $2 for children. The firm offers packages that combine tours with lunch or taste samplings and T-shirts. Call (773) 308-7044 or browse www.elicheese cake.com.
