Indiana Amish Country - Resorting

Travel America, March-April, 2004

Spring View Bed & Breakfast, nestled on 48 acres, makes a perfect hideaway in the Amish Country of Northern Indiana. Newly constructed, it was designed to be a B & B. The centerpiece is a spring-fed lake visible from the screened sitting room.

Hosts Phil and Roz Slabaugh offer five expansive guest rooms with central air-conditioning and private bath. Amenities include hand-held massagers, glider rockers, TV with VCR, and king or queen beds with pillow-top mattresses. The Honeymoon Suite has a private entrance and double whirlpool, steam bath, and double shower. Activities include fishing, paddleboating, and Amish buggy rides. Or borrow a bike and pedal around the countryside.

Rates ($59 to $79 a night) include a full breakfast served in the sunroom. Guests chow down on stuffed French toast with home-made raspberry sauce, orange oatmeal pecan pancakes, local country bacon, sausage, or ham, and homemade muffins and bread.
