North Carolina's Clear Creek Guest Ranch proves travelers seeking the ambience of a dude ranch don't have to go out West. Nestled in a quiet valley of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Clear Creek offers horseback riding, hearty meals, and cozy, lug-sided cabins. Other activities include fishing in a private pond, swimming in the heated pool, cookouts, rodeo events, and square dancing. A kids program targets little buckaroos.
Besides the main lodge, there's the new Cantina, a popular gathering place for morning coffee and evening drinks. It offers a large color TV for watching the big game, card tables for playing games, and armchairs and sofas for curling up with a good book.
