King & Prince Beach and Golf Resort on Georgia's St. Simons Island is reopening its historic main building following the completion of a multimillion-dollar renovation. Fifty-seven new accommodations feature expanded guest rooms and bathrooms, with 22 oceanfront rooms, 14 new ocean view rooms, and 21 resort view rooms. The renovation is the latest in a series of expansions and renovations that have included the new 18-room Oleander wing and the Tabby House, a two-unit, two-bedroom duplex. A member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Historic Hotels of America, the King & Prince opened as a dance club in 1935 and as a hotel in 1941. The hotel served as a naval facility during World War 11, reopening in 1947 to resume its role as a pre-eminent destination resort.
