Preparation for the real business world: empirical research in the MBA finance curriculum

College Student Journal, June, 2005 by Angeline M. Lavin, Stephen K. Johnson

The project handout shown in Exhibit C is given to the students at the first class meeting. The document serves as a guide to the empirical research project throughout the semester. In addition to working on the empirical research project in groups, the students also do two case analyses for the class as a group.

After the first case analysis is handed in, each group member completes an anonymous, open-ended instrument that encourages each of them to express his/her assessment of the current group dynamics. Both the instructor and the group members review these assessments for signs of group problems.
