Telecom Asia, Nov, 2002 by Fiona Chau

Motorola has extended the family of building blocks that supports its Multi-Service Packet Transport Platform (MXP) with the addition of PICMG 2.16 CompactPCI Packet Switching Backplane (CPSB) standard dual star gigabit Ethernet switch from ZNYX Networks.

ZNYX's ZX4900 is a 24-port Gigabit Ethernet switch providing 29 node card ports, four front panel Egress ports and a switch-to-switch port. It provides Layer 2 switching, Layer 3 IP routing, Layer 4-7 packet classification and filtering, Ethernet transport infrastructure and an extensible routing environment.

Complementary building blocks in the MXP family include the Packet Computing Resource Board; the Packet Processor Resource Board (PPRB); the 672-channel Packet Voice Resource Board (PVRB672); Motorola's 5385 Pentium CompactPCI controller blade; and the MCIP805 PowerPlus III Architecture CompactPCI application and control process board.
