KDDI plans to offer fiber-optic broadband service via cable owned by East Japan Railway in an attempt to challenge dominant NTT Corp. The company aims to offer services, including free TV over broadband and high speed Internet access, to 120,000 households using JR East cables running from Tokyo to northern Japan.
